A Joker's Mask

I've been reading some of the visions of Ellen G. White - the 19th century Seventh Day Adventist prophet. She gives a fascinating account of the War of Heaven - with this description of the fallen angel:

I was shown Satan as he once was, a happy, exalted angel. Then I was shown him as he now is. He still bears a kingly form. His features are still noble, for he is an angel fallen. But the expression of his countenance is full of anxiety, care, unhappiness, malice, hate, mischief, deceit, and every evil. That brow which was once so noble, I particularly noticed. His forehead commenced from his eyes to recede. I saw that he had so long bent himself to evil that every good quality was debased, and every evil trait was developed. His eyes were cunning, sly, and showed great penetration. His frame was large, but the spiritual flesh hung loosely about his hands and face.

As I beheld him, his chin was resting upon his left hand. He appeared to be in deep thought. A smile was upon his countenance, which made me tremble, it was so full of evil and satanic slyness. This smile is the one he wears just before he makes sure of his victim, and as he fastens the victim in his snare, this smile grows horrible.

As a former SDA, I just have to ask: why were you reading EGW? I thought she was shown to be a fake, having plagiarized many of her "visions." Never occurred to me she would be a source of synchs. Now you have piqued my curiosity!

Short answer - I'm on a mailing list run by an "end times" Christian who is sometimes a lunatic and sometimes inspired, and he's quoting her at the moment.

Long answer - I've read parts of the book of Mormon, and some L. Ron Hubbard, and I try not to judge the message by the reputation of the prophet. As Saturday morning cartoons have proven, insight can be found in the most unlikely of places. That, and a few personal SDA syncs - my first boyfriend was SDA - from Montana.

Interesting to note that Nicholson also played the Devil in the Witches of Eastwick. That was shot in Cohasset, Massachusetts, where my dad lived after my parents split. I met a lot of celebrities there, cause my dad lived right on the harbor for 25 years right across the street from the hotel where all the acts playing at the South Shore Music Circus played. Directly across the harbor was the Cox Estate, the same Coxes who were part owners of Dow Jones.

I didn't meet the Eastwick cast, but my sister met Cher and Susan Sarandon. Cher was almost killed in an accident on route 3 while filming there.

Speaking of Mormons, The Osmond Family bought a house in Cohasset on Jerusalem Road. One morning I was riding my bike and saw Marie Osmond walking with her husband. She was one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen in person. This was 1978.

Yea, Jack seems pretty comfortable playing dark archetypes. In Witches of Eastwick, he was a charming seducer of three "Eves" - which fits. That movie put me off cherries for at least a year.

The most likely place for syncs to happen?
Where ever you are present...
