The Orange Lodge

Chapter House 19

I’m not sure where this all began, but I’ll peg August 21, the day of the Great American Eclipse. That was the day I went to seek therapy about symptoms of depression. I was there at the clinic at the exact time of the eclipse, and I joined some of the staff out on the sidewalk to view the historic event. At least I could be assured that they had the medically approved eye protection, which they kindly shared.

I hadn’t really planned the visit for that exact date, because the first date offered was Sept. 11 and I felt that I didn’t want my reach-out for therapy to get all synced up with 9/11, so I chose the next one offered, not yet knowing the signs and portents of that day.

My therapy “intake” interview was on Sept. 19. That’s when they get their first look at me, and I sign a bunch of release forms. As I was signing, the case worker volunteered: “Today is the 19th, which is also my dog’s birthday. I have no idea why I just said that.”

I replied: “Well that’s odd, because today is also my dog Oliver’s birthday”.

Twin dogs, twin stars. Birthdays. It reminded me of Sirius, the “dog star”, which is actually two stars: Sirius A and Sirius B.

My first actual therapy appointment wasn’t scheduled until Sept. 27, and on Sept. 25 I had a dream:

I was a fraternity brother. I was attempting to get all the bro’s packed and ready, we were going on a road trip or something. I was half naked, with nothing on but trainers and an orange polo shirt. It didn’t feel unusual, I wasn’t embarrassed - apparently this was normal attire in this frat. I ran from floor to floor organizing the guys. I paused once at a hall mirror to look at myself critically, because I didn’t really like the shirt and was considering what to wear on the trip. I decided to keep the orange polo shirt after all, it looked good on me.

Fireman

On the 27th I went to meet my new therapist. She was late, so I got to peruse a nice children’s picture book about life in the middle ages, at a baron’s castle. All the soldiers wear the coat of arms of the baron’s family. When I sat down to meet my therapist in her office, her first act was to offer me an orange.

This reminded me of the House of Orange-Nassau, and I considered that orange was the signature color of my dream fraternity.

Fire-lion

On Sept. 30 I read Fraternity Rituals - a homoerotic story set in the basement of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Have I mentioned yet that I was a Kappa Sig? Though I don’t recall initiation rituals quite like this one.

On Oct. 3, I had another appointment about my depression, and I was given an orange-flowered pen with which to fill out the questionnaire. Note the 3/17 sync.

Then my own birthday arrived on Oct. 11. It was uneventful (besides having dinner at Syren’s Grill) except that  an old frat brother of mine called to wish me a happy birthday. I hadn’t seen or spoken to him in over 15 years.

As it turns out, the fraternal order of the Freemasons revere Sirius, they call it the Blazing Star. It shows up in a lot of occult art: the stairway to Sirius.

Note the checkerboard motif as well.

I was also visiting Home Depot a lot because I’m building a small boat in my garage and I’m always scouting for tools and materials. Being duly sensitized to orange via my dream, I notice the signature color of this hardware store. And the orange aprons.

On the square

Masons are famous for their aprons.

Pyramid schemes

So then October 31 rolls around: Halloween. Can’t really think about Halloween without orange.

And on that day, an orange aproned Home Depot rental truck with a large “19” painted on the side, driven by a fellow wearing a black and white checkerboard shirt, plowed into a crowd of Halloween revelers in Tribeca Manhattan, killing 8.

I note the orange-aproned truck was heading directly toward Ground Zero. Can’t escape the 911 Sync Hole after all.

Christopher Knowles and his Secret Sun has been all over the color orange lately.

The Missing Link

Taking care of the neighbor’s dog this week. We were given the Missing Link.

I enjoyed the Dogon, dog star, Sirius symbolism of it. The thing is, to a web designer a link is a gate or portal to another website. It’s  instantaneous teleportation through time and space. The original name of a web link is an “anchor” tag, shortened to <a>. It’s the foundation of the web: the most important aspect.

Today I walked the dog by a lovely piece of garden art for sale. It featured an anchor in the very center of a glass pentacle. I wondered… if I pick it, will it transport me to Sirius?

The Dogon the Hat in the Road

Bonus zebra points in upper right

I attended the Olympia Sync Summit this past weekend, which was… fucking amazing. I think everyone had moments of “pinch me, I’m dreaming” as we witnessed and took part in an intense coming together of sync over the weekend of the Super Duper Moon. I had to leave early on Sunday, to go help my mom pack stuff up - she is moving out of her house on Hood Canal. Driving out on the North Shore Road, I saw a lonely purple hat in the middle of the road, and on a whim I pulled over and jumped out to pick it up.

I’ve been syncing on purple all summer long (see Mystery Rainbow of Babylon) which I associate with ultra-violet, or the high energy lightwaves from the sun that birds and bees can see. Purple is the color of royalty, and violet is the color of the crown chakra, so I began to see this dog emblazoned cap as a sort of crown.

You can’t attend a sync conference without Sirius, or the “dog star” coming up in conversation, it’s as guaranteed as 911 conspiracy theory. Sirius is associated with Isis. The crown of Isis?

Super Moon
While in Olympia (fairly dripping with gods, goddesses and mountain top symbolism) Andras Jones took us on a walk of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, where we accomplished an assent to Kether, or the Crown.

Keter (Hebrew:About this sound כֶּתֶר (help·info), lit. Crown) also known as Kether, is the topmost of the Sephirot of the Tree of Life in Kabbalah. Since its meaning is "crown", it is interpreted as both the "topmost" of the Sephirot and the "regal crown" of the Sephirot. It is between Chokmah and Binah (with Chokmah on the right and Binah in the left) and it sits above Tiphereth. It is usually given three paths, to Chokmah, Tiphereth, and Binah.

Also, Will Morgan presented an amazing sync collage centered on Viggo Mortenson, who plays “The King”. Kings of course, all have crowns, aka fancy hats.

Wagging the Dogstar
Arriving at my mom’s house, I see this syncy truck parked next door, which featured a 501 on the tailgate (Levi’s 501, 51 being the multiple of 3x17, or in other words, a strong Osiris sync) But the company name is Hatton, and I read “hat on”. Like, put the hat on, or put the crown on.

Now, the husband of Isis is Osiris, so I interpret the sync message as: become the Green Man. Become Osiris. But hold on (to your hat) a minute, because if you become Osiris, you basically become a man marked for death. He is the dying king, and god of the underworld, after all.

As I helped my mother pack her books to give to the “Friends of the Library”, we packed up my old books from childhood. It was a serious moment of appreciation. One stood out:

The Hat
About a magical hat with a magenta ribbon that granted its wearer every wish. In the last chapter the hat blows of the head of its now wealthy owner as he speeds down the road in an open motor car, and is then found by a beggar, in the middle of the road.

Update 8/23/14

If the dog on the hat is a symbol for Sirius - the dog star, then it is akin to the Pope’s mitre, representing the fish-headed alien that is the foundation of all the world’s religions:
The primordial source of all our religions lies with the ancestors of the Dogon tribe, who got their cosmogony and cosmology directly from the three-eyed invaders who visited long ago. The three-eyed invaders are mute and deaf and telepathic, could not breathe our atmosphere, had the elongated misshapen skull of Ikhnaton, and emanated from a planet in the star system Sirius. Although they had no hands, but had, instead, pincer claws such as a crab has, they were great builders. They covertly influence our history toward a fruitful end. ~VALIS, P.K. Dick
At the Sync Summit, we all gathered at McMenamin’s for an after-hours snack after Andy Shmushkin’s Radio 8-Ball experience on Friday, 8/8. I guess they are trying to reinvent a Masonic Lodge, it’s full of overt Masonic symbols, including the fish-head Babylonian deity on the menu. Fish on Friday?

The pub is AKA the Spar Cafe, at 114 4th Ave. E. in Olympia WA, 98501. That address has most of my personal sync numbers encoded.

This would all be just so much syncerbating except that I’ve been reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown this week, which is all about black and white, good and evil, dark and light, and the reconciliation of opposites (think Zebra) and I was reading chapter 33 (of course) last night, which describes the conclave in Rome, where they choose the new pope. And Varen looks at me funny and I ask him why he’s looking at me so weird, and at first he wouldn't say but I asked again, he says it’s because he sees a glowing white light over my head.
"The Ancient Astronomers saw all the great Symbols of Masonry in the Stars. Sirius glitters in our lodges as the Blazing Star."
~Albert Pike 33° Morals and Dog-ma, page 486
When this baby hits 88 mph, we're going to see some Sirius shit.

Dog Days of Summer

Monday last, a nuclear “super-carrier” steamed into Port Townsend Bay and docked at the Indian Island Naval Ordinance facility across from PT. We don’t get carriers much. The cool sync was that it was the USS Nimitz - the major prop in the 1980 time travel film “The Final Countdown”.

I checked out Netflix to see if the film was available and indeed it was. I watched it last night. Stars Martin Sheen as Warren Lasky, Kirk Douglas as Capt. Matthew Yelland, and Katharine Ross as Laurel Scott (Great Scott!)

They and the crew of the Nimitz are transported back in time by a temporal storm to December 6, 1941. They eventually figure out when they are, and launch an attack upon the Imperial Japanese fleet, ready to defend the USA against an event that had not yet occurred. But the temporal storm returned exactly at that fateful moment and returned the aircraft carrier to its normal time, thus saving the existing timeline from corruption from the future.

The film featured a rescue dog named Charlie, who became the property of Martin Sheen’s character after his owner was left in 1941. Martin has a son named Charlie.

My father, who was no. 41 on his high school football jersey, had a dog named Mike in his childhood.

My sister-in-law is currently in town, house-sitting and caring for a dog named Hannah. She has a daughter named Hannah.

Notes:

Phoenicians called Sirius, Hannabeah (“the Barker”.)

I was shopping for shoes today in Port Angeles, and saw some Osiris brand sk8r shoes. Osiris is connected to Sirius (Isis), the dog star, as her husband.

But ancient Egypt provides the most regal history for Sirius. Initially, it was Hathor, the great mother goddess, who was identified with Sirius. But Isis soon became the major archetype, sharing honors with the title of Sirius as the Nile Star. An icon of Sirius as a five-pointed star (shades of the Golden Mean) has been found on the walls of the famous Temple of Isis/Hathor at Denderah. ~ halexandria.org

Messaging Sirius

Our Australian terrier died suddenly on November 16. Oliver was well named (all love) and we are missing him like crazy. He was our "dog star", and since 17 is associated with Osiris and Sirius (the dog star), the day after was sort of nuts. I began wondering if he was somehow still alive, perhaps in another dimension, and maybe I could send him a message, or even bring him back.

My neighbor is an ex postal worker, and when we told him that Oliver had died, he told us how much he missed his old dog, Mercury. Both postal workers and Mercury are messengers!

We decided to have Oliver cremated at Precious Pets in Auburn, they have a winged logo. That was done on 11/22 - the 50th anniversary of the JFK King Kill. Angels are messengers. I began to associate fire with sending a message, or perhaps transportation, sort of like beaming up in Star Trek. Maybe Prometheus pissed off the gods because he gave mankind, not only a source of light and warmth, but a transmitter.

Making a study of sync, we often wind up with repeating numbers, colors, names, locations. They become important because we pay attention to them when they pop up. I have many of them, one of the strongest is the name Intrepid. I'm not sure where it began, but a few years ago I even named my computer Intrepid. When we moved to Port Townsend and discovered the wood stove in our new house was an Intrepid II, I figured that was a good sign.

The first Intrepid I was aware of was an America's Cup yacht, but there is also an Intrepid class starship (Voyager being the most famous) and even an aircraft carrier, currently serving as the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in NYC. There was also a Dodge Intrepid, which oddly enough is the staff car of the Chandler, AZ fire department, just south of Phoenix.

You know, that crazy bird who consumes itself in fire in order to be born again.

This winter I build fires in my little Intrepid II, and I wonder, am I also sending smoke signals to Sirius?

The Obama stars and stripes logo is known as "the stairway to Sirius", thanks to Christopher Knowles. The caduceus is the staff of Mercury, Hermes. The three stars above? Yes, the three kings of Sirius, the dog star.

A Sirius Fourth of July

The primordial source of all our religions lies with the ancestors of the Dogon tribe, who got their cosmogony and cosmology directly from the three-eyed invaders who visited long ago. The three-eyed invaders are mute and deaf and telepathic, could not breathe our atmosphere, had the elongated misshapen skull of Ikhnaton, and emanated from a planet in the star system Sirius. Although they had no hands, but had, instead, pincer claws such as a crab has, they were great builders. They covertly influence our history toward a fruitful end. ~P.K. Dick
Continuing on our little "Starship and the Canoe" quest, my mom made up this fabulous Fourth of July centerpiece this year. I'll call it the Dogon Solar Sirius Celebration.

Aftermath

Well, Oliver's back home, resting peacefully. I want to attempt to share with you how strange yesterday really was for me, from a sync point of view. Remember the sudden onslaught of Fleur de Lis that began early March?

The morning of the 17th we were visiting Oliver at the vet and this van was parked a few blocks away. It includes 441, the mirror of 144 (the no. of the sealed, 12 times the 12 tribes of Judah, etc.)

Back on the 14th I was walking Ginger (Oliver's sister) to her favorite little park and I found this green fleur de lis lying by the side of the road directly across from it. I picked it up and I've been keeping it in my pocketses...

Back to the 17th. I decided to take 'the Ginj' to her park again, and I found these chalk marks on the sidewalk on the way:

It had nothing to do with St. Patrick's Day, just some writing left by some utility worker. We get to the park, which is named Louie Park, after the owner's dog. That gives me Sirius, Louie Armstrong, and Louis 14 the Sun King all in one little sign. Note the danger.

The sign sits on this lonely little shed, which has some gigantic diamonds on it.

If you walk around to the back of the shed, and peak into the 'rear window' ;-), you'll see an old blue Ford Falcon in storage, though when I peaked this time it appears that work is being done on the engine, so maybe Horus is finally getting ready to fly.

Obligatory Hollywood movie poster with a dead Goddess

Continuing on around the block, we come to the Holy Family Catholic Church, and this interesting vehicle parked out front:

It's a red VW Eurovan, which gives us the obligatory Nazi sync (VW was Hitler's "people's car") and yet another 144. Which is "thinking green":

Rounding the corner to head back home, we come across a WSU (Wazzoo) Cougar sign. Mountain LION, or red lion of Judah.

As I was putting the finishing touches on this little yellow brick road, Bring a Trailer posts this orange Alfa Romeo Montreal. 1971, (17 reversed) Montreal (Royal Mountain, Fleur de Lis), "awakened from slumber".

Alfa Romeo has perhaps the most wonderful badge of all automobiles (that's a 'Saracen' in the jaws of the serpent) and they even include a 'quadrifoglio' (4 leaf clover) in their iconography.
So I'm putting all that into my pipe and smoking it during the next week. That is, in between buying canned food and moving into the basement to avoid the radioactive cloud from Japan. On the horizon is March 25, the feast day of St. Dismas, the "good thief". I have a feeling it will be memorable.

Assembly 17

Heaven

Oliver, the Australian terrier has been having a really tough time. He suddenly stopped eating and began vomiting on Sunday, and we took him to the vet. He’s been there ever since, and finally last night they figured out he had a foreign body lodged in his gut, and then emergency surgery and today he looks like hell but is stable and we have hope that he’ll survive. His sudden illness has also devastated our meager credit reserves, so we have a lot of dollar/snake bite anxiety to add in.

Some of you may remember my tribute to John (our next door neighbor Saint) who died last last spring.
I think maybe Osiris just died in my neighborhood. John lived off exit 17*, and he went to church at 1717* Bellevue Way. A Facebook page made to honor and encourage him - “Get well John” - had 1700* entries.
So this afternoon Var was out gardening and happened to talk to John’s widow (Isis) about Oliver and she spontaneously offers to help with Oliver’s medical bills! She said “John would have wanted to”.

Today is 3/17.

Somehow, through all this, I think I've also been vomited up a 'foreign body'. I must have swallowed something a long time ago, and it's time to be rid of it.

If I told you what it takes to reach the highest high
You'd laugh and say nothin's that simple
But you've been told many times before Messiahs point you to the door
No one had the GUTS to leave the temple --The Who

* According to Greek historian Plutarch, the ancient Egyptian god Seth murdered his twin brother Osiris in the twenty-eighth year of the latter’s reign, on the seventeenth day of the third month. Twenty-eight divided by 17 approximates the square root of e. If the date- setting priests were aware of this constant and wanted to express the nature of the festival by its date, they could have found no better way than to so assimilate the god’s death with the root -- or cause -- of new growth.

Taking My Meds

I’ve recently made a commitment to meditate every day. Meditating isn’t “fun” for me, but it does bring certain intangible yet noticeable benefits. One benefit is some clarity about priorities. Gosporn has always wavered between a personal blog and God knows what else, mostly it’s just a record of the evolution of my belief system. The Write In Candidate pretty much sums up where I am right now, and I don’t have anything of substance to add to it.

I’ve realized that it’s time for me to stop blogging and time for my ego to shut the fuck up for once. Time to look inwards. In the immortal words of Sherri Ann Cabot from Best in Show:
“I’m just gonna stay here ’til I get another message from myself”

Greece Lightning

Hark! hark! the dogs do bark!
The beggars are coming to town
Some in rags and some in jags
And one in a velvet gown.
Over the past year, the German shepherd has become a powerful “totem animal” at Gosporn. Mostly associated with violence, the fierce herding dog has become an incarnation of Shiva, a messenger of the Gods, but a messenger with real teeth - one I dare not ignore. So my ears pricked up with the discovery that Rebel Dog, the new icon of the Greek Riots, was described as a German shepherd:
Amid the turmoil of the Greece financial crisis, photos and videos of street protests have turned up a kind of canine "Where's Waldo" figure: a mutt that may have some German shepherd genes, and clearly has a strong interest in civic disorder.

See this remarkable site about Rebel Dog and an excellent article at Secret Sun that draws the semiotic connections.
The even greater risk to the European banking system from a Greek failure is that it would bring very much into play Portugal, Spain, and Ireland. These countries, which between them have around US$1.5 trillion in sovereign debt, suffer from similar, albeit less acute, public finance and international competitiveness problems. And they too are stuck in a Euro-zone straightjacket that severely constrains their ability to deal with these problems in a credible manner.

This fascinating pictograph of European financial entanglements strangely echo the state of European affairs a hundred years ago, just prior to the First World War. Before 1914, the five Great Powers of Great Britain, France, Germany, Austria-Hungary and Russia controlled Europe, and it was through a system of paranoid alliances that these powers kept an uneasy peace. Substitute a modern central banking house for a house of royalty, and well... you do the math. Especially when you consider that the entire world, thanks to “the global economy” is in a similar condition to Europe a hundred years ago. We’re all “Europe”, and it always starts in the Balkans.

Omens aside, I’m even more intrigued by the “Rebel” aspect of Rebel Dog. Because I keep finding the “rebel” synch in the strangest of places, and this has been going on for months. The most hilarious is this pic of a new race boat posted at the popular sailing site “Sailing ANARCHY”.

But the rebel archetype goes way back for me, considering that my high school called itself "The Home of the Rebels". What IS it about the rebel?

Glad you asked, because the latest rebel synch comes from the Mythulinity blog, who reminded me of Tom of Finland’s character named - Rebel! Rebel was inspired by the American “greaser” icon from the 50’s as expressed via James Dean and Marlon Brando. This archetype winds its way through American pop culture like a brooding but irrepressible, and perhaps irresistible, rogue. Later incarnations include John Travolta as Danny Zuko in Grease, and Fonzi from Happy Days, where he was pretty much domesticated.

Rebel is a homo erotic icon because he is expressing overt and unapologetic masculine sexuality - Eros. He could care less about ideas of monogamy, shelter or saving for college. His “house” is his bike, and he goes where the wind blows. He fucks who he wants to fuck, and to hell with the consequences. At least a gay biker doesn’t leave a bunch of unwed mothers in his wake.

As an interested observer, I can’t help but notice that James Dean, Brando, and even Travolta (rumor has it) share a certain something... and that “something” is smokin’ hot homo erotic love. Paradoxically, the more gays are accepted into the mainstream, the more Eros dies. Domestically partnered, suburban, baby carriage pushing gay men might as well just be straight as far as Eros is concerned. Neutered!

Sometimes it seems like I've forgotten my birthright - the inheritance of Eros. Sometimes I need a wake up call, and Rebel Dog is calling.

Notes on James Dean:

The lives of James Dean and Heath Ledger have interesting parallels. Both died tragically at the peak of their careers, both receiving posthumous Academy Awards. Both were sexually attractive to men and to women, expressing a certain air of androgyny on screen. Both their roles and their lives had a strong impact on popular culture, and they both played roles with an undercurrent of homosexual religious martyrdom - Dean was cast as John the Beloved Disciple in Hill Number One, an Easter television special.

The number 55: James Dean won his Academy Award in 1955, died in 1955, driving a Porsche 550 Spyder, he was pulled over for driving 65 in a 55 speed zone on the day he died. See Sign Language for 55 synchs at Gosporn.

"Little Bastard", Dean's 550 Spyder, was customized by George Barris, who went on to design the Batmobile.

Coincidentally, the #1 pop song in the US at the time of Dean's death, "The Yellow Rose of Texas" by Mitch Miller, was also featured in Giant in a scene following the actor's last appearance in the film. See The Yellow Rose Again for some interesting semiotic connections with this old standard.
