I'll Tell You Why

For those of you whose Christian toes I may have stepped on. Let me take the opportunity to disabuse you of some lovely myths. For instance, the historic Jesus was not nearly the sainted figure has been made out to be. In addition to being a lover of young boys and men. he was given to uncontrollable bursts of temper and hatred that belied the general message of love, understanding and other typical Marcab PR. You have only to look at the history his teachings inspired to see where it all inevitably leads. --L. Ron Hubbard. OT VIII

Perhaps the above is the single unadulterated truth within Scientology. Jesus was a fag. The evidence is overwhelming, if you look at it with your 'queer eye'. That's the whole reason for homophobia, because we gotta have "great delusion" in the End Times. This planet would never accept a gay Messiah. It's unthinkable. We'd rather "fight than switch". The conspirators are busy substituting Mary Magdalene for John (the disciple Jesus loved) because the obvious truth is so unpalatable.

The twin Scientology spokesmen are Tom Cruise and John Travolta - both (not so) secret homosexuals. Why would "self-hating" queers buy into such a homophobic organization? Because of shame - the shame that has always haunted the sons of Adam - our "Achilles heel".

As far as temper goes, Bronski Beat screams gay rage better than most in 'Tell Me Why'.

Never feel guilty, never give in.

Bronski Beat lead singer Jimmy Somerville went on to form the Communards - another nod at the red star.

L. Ron - Elron - the leader of the elves. Who the fuck ARE the elves?

This is quite fascinating...I never really considered this "line" before but you might be on to something...Christian guilt has ALWAYS bugged the crap out of me. This angle on where that guilt might come from makes some sense. Especially with your Cruise/Travolta suspicions (which have floated for years, right?).

Yes, years. Perhaps they each believe their careers would suffer if they came out, or perhaps it's a more deep seated sense of sexual shame imposed by family or church. In any case, it's a powerful weapon, and while gay men probably feel it most strongly, it does permeate the collective consciousness like a sickness. People who feel their sexual desires are shameful are easily manipulated into doing things they really aught to be ashamed about.

It's interesting that "shameful" sins are multiplying like a cancer these days - mostly in the name of saving the planet. Anxiety and guilt are our constant companions.

Aren't hetero and homosexuality invented things. Perhaps , before their definition, their was reproductive sex and sex for pleasure. There seem plenty of examples of same-sex relationships in history, eunuchs and male concubines who were valued members of Court, transvestism in Thailand for example is not seen as wierd but a natural extension of the person's character. It seems that Roman Catholicism and its child Protestantism in all their forms that have decided to define and set down laws accordingly.
When did a man practicing homosexuality become the furtive , toilet visitor that lead to people havng to define themselves as homosexuals subsequently having to be proud of something that felt inherently natural to them.
Today our entertainment is based around the war and death of the gladiatorial Colisseum rather than the more erotic Greek theatre.
Pornography films aren't mainstream yet we;re all turned on to their trance4mation into 'bullet in the body, baby' films that Hollywood churns out.
As they say it's harder to kill someone you've made love to, so perhaps that's one reason why homosexuality got sidelined, then not talked about, then forbidden.
In olden times women generally had to be virgins when they were married, and still do in Islam, perhaps other religions, and so men with men might have proved necessary to keep the womenfolk cherry ripe and honey sweet.
The British Navy did, perhaps still does, allow acts to be performed after 23 days at sea, as this was the length of a male sexual cycle. Cabin boys were the early pizza deliverers.
Graham Chapman played Brian in 'Life of Brian' and was secretly homosexual for years. Of course Brian parodied Jesus.
Today I think homosexuality is more to do with the explosive idea of the last few decades : It pleasures one to do what the fuck I like.
Re: the Earthquakes and the picture you have of the World getting ... you know. Some synch.

I wrote a bit about ancient male sexuality here:

The word homosexual didn't exist until the late 1800's - I blame the Victorians. The homo word also created its "opposite" - heterosexual, which is equally bogus, and it drew a "line in the sand" that never officially existed before.

Naming things is a powerful thing, and maybe we should be careful what we name, because we might just get it. In the case of queers, we got "called out" AKA "made holy", and the global consciousness had to "recognize" something about itself that was previously nearly invisible.

BTW, Polynesia was perhaps the last place on earth where sexuality was truly free. And European disease quickly put an end to it. Or at least nearly... I have a friend who sailed through the Pacific when he was a young man, and on remote islands the native boys are still friendly.

Great comments all, thanks very much for the feedback.
