"Houston, we have a problem..."
Everything about the tragic death of Whitney Houston has already been written, consider this a gay addendum.
The exact truth behind Whitney's relationship with Robyn Crawford still seems to be radioactive, with the press only covering claims made by British gay militant Peter Tatchell (reduced to recycling made-up quotes attributed to Jaz Coleman back in the 80s before Whitney died) that Whitney's sham marriage to Bobby Brown was the beginning of her long, ugly downfall. For her part, Crawford wrote a heart-rending open letter that detailed her history with Whitney without addressing the exact nature of their relationship. ~The Secret SunE tu, Whitney? We might consider Bobby to represent the brutal fist of a cultural zeitgeist - the moral dogma that collects the bones of talented spirits like trophy wives. It was BOB that killed Laura Palmer.
Whitney Houston entered the underworld on 2/11, three days before Valentine's Day, which is the national celebration of the "greatest love of all". Hallmark, and before that, the Catholic Church, turned the God of Eros, the root and offspring of Jesse, the fire of the kundalini, into a harmless cherub. Talk about infantilizing, or castrating. Oh yeah, they did that. As I like to say... the Hierophant is the enemy of Eros. The Church hates anything that might conceivably result in an actual experience of unity with the divine because well... obviously then we don't need the middle man. Peter is out of a job, the keys are given away.
FATIMA, Portugal — Pope Benedict XVI on Thursday called abortion and same-sex marriage some of the most "insidious and dangerous" threats facing the world today, asserting key church teachings as he tried to move beyond the clerical abuse scandal. ~Pope Benedict XVI: Gay Marriage Is 'Insidious And Dangerous'Moving beyond the pot calling the kettle black, do we sense an underlying panic? Ever since the Best In Show Sirius Radio dream, I've paid even more attention to the dog gods, so it was particularly interesting that the Westminster Kennel Club finals were held on Feb. 14 - Valentines Day. So who was Eros' best in show? A little power puff Pekingese named Malachy.
The Prophecy of the Popes, attributed to Saint Malachy, is a list of 112 short phrases in Latin. They purport to describe each of the Roman Catholic popes (along with a few anti-popes), beginning with Pope Celestine II (elected in 1143) and concluding with the successor of current pope Benedict XVI, a pope described in the prophecy as "Peter the Roman", whose pontificate will end in the destruction of the city of Rome. ~wikipediaSigh. Not a Doberman named Malachy or a Great Dane named Malachy, but an insipid little tribble named Malachy. The Pope must be chuckling at that, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. The trouble with tribbles is that they (we) are born pregnant. Birth control be damned.
I think that when the Hierophant is finally taken down, there will be some of us wearing Whitney Houston badges, a testament to the greatest love of all.
