Baiting the Master

Today, I was deep into a design on my drafting board and the creative juices were really flowing, and I look down, and I realize I have my hand in my pants... fondling my genitals? I've discovered I subconsciously do this when I'm alone and "in the moment" - focused on a creative endeavor. Which makes sense, given Cock = God = the Creative Impulse. I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed this, I mean, besides Salvador Dali?

The next step is what to do with the DNA. "Let's be clear about this. I have no intention of creating a cloned army of surrealist artists," said Dr Rieders, who sported a melting clock tie in honour of one of Dali's most famous images.

How does Dali express his understanding of this creative impetus you explained?

I'm not sure if Dali ever expressed it in words, he expressed it by mingling body fluids with paints, or at least so the urban legend says...

like a talisman. Maybe we could make a genetic resurrection of Dali from one of his paintings.

I will try to find out more about Dali with this-I do know he had several paintings devoted to his guilt over masturbation -according to this book I have about Dali "...a hand. The latter iconography around this time (1927) and refers to masturbation, a scheme which he pursued obsessively during the next five years. The means of auto-eroticisim-the 'ever dissatisified hand'-is depicted here as tumescent, (The painting referred to is called Apparatus and Hand),veined and in place of a brain. In this way, Dali depicts himself, with brutal frankness, as an automaton in the grip of an onanistic obsession." Great thoughts as always Michael and I hope you and Var are doing beautifully-all the best!!

Michael … it was that Great Grandfather of the Beat Generation, Wm S Burroughs, long involved with synchronicities & Magick (the archaic spelling for the treatment of magic as an art & science of influencing 'really real' reality w/ one's Will) that pointed out that us men are tumescent when we dream. Why not masturbate the master (you set that one up, dude, LOL!) in order TO dream?

As for that super star of the Surrealist movement, Dali, there're lots & lotsa phallic images hoisted up on crutches in his phantasmagorical dreamscapes, an alleged self-indictment of his life long erotomania but inability to perform. Check THAT out.

As for cloning him from his emissions still embossing his work, methinks that the tissue involved would still have to be invenient (alive) in order to be viable, not decades stale.

Salient observation, He Who Is Like G-d, and one which demands further study. As for my word veri? Why, this thyme it's "cagion" … I LOVE Cajun cuisine!

There's a baby black bear in my yarden. Gotta go ~ Anadæ Effro (•:-0}

Dali is kind of the Phil Collins of the Surrealist movement. If you're looking for the Eno or the Fripp, I recommend Max Ernst. I saw the Ernst exhibit at the Met and I left emotionally shattered. It was the weirdest thing.

Thanks all, for the Dali insight. It would appear that I inadvertently conjured Catholic guilt about the act of masculine creation, something which Dali was probably, and unfortunately, terribly familiar. He wrestled with his dark side through his paintings, and I think we are all the richer for it.

"cagion" could also mean "contagion". Those baby bears are so cute! Beware the mamma bear!

Max Ernst - thanks for the reference, will check him out.
