Ground Breaking Ceremony

Last week I randomly pulled out some old DVD’s to watch. One was Curse of the Black Pearl and the other was Sahara. They are part of my haul of movies that I got at a garage sale several years ago, all for one $. Johnny Depp as the weaving pirate is always entertaining but Matthew McConaughey as Dirk Pitt is just awful. However, Varen and I walked downtown to the “free book box” today and Varen asked me, “Do you want a Clive Cussler book?” and he tossed me ‘Sahara’. Movie and book share very little in common except for the title, and I’m a bit ashamed that I’ve read and watched them both.

But the double sync got me to thinking. Is it about the the character Dirk Pitt, or perhaps the plot of the book or film? Or perhaps just the name… Sahara!

That’s when I recalled the vivid real estate dream from last April: The Street of Dreams, where I was shown the barren lot of the soon to be built Biff Tannen’s Pleasure Paradise Hotel & Casino. AKA the Temple of Set.

The Sahara is the planet’s mightiest desert. Set is god of the desert, and desert storms. Perhaps tomorrow is the ground breaking ceremony for Biff’s casino. A lucky day.

I was amused to find this monorail arriving at the Sahara on wikipedia.

4/7/15 Dream: I was touring some kind of real estate development in a car with some realtors. It was dark and snowing lightly, the wind blowing the snow into sparse dunes. Most of the development was full, but one big lot sat undeveloped, I was told that Biff’s Casino would go there. 

We got out of the car to look around and some big, strong dogs were there, running and sniffing around through the grounds, checking everything out. I felt comfortable with them, like they were protectors more than threats. Occasionally they would get closer and I could see how unusual they were. Fore the most part they were just big dogs, like Mastiffs but their skulls were made of thick transparent glass or plastic, and their eyes and teeth softly glowed with an emerald light. 

One of the dogs noticed I was staring intently at his head, and he said: “You want to know what we are made from. We are made of Storm”.

I’ve long connected Biff Tannen to Set, the Egyptian god of the desert and storms, war and chaos, and the chief antagonist in the Egyptian myths. In the Biff timeline, Biff kills George McFly playing Osiris, with Marty McFly playing his son - Horus the Avenger.

Set represents our hidden collective subconscious. Biff is a perfect example of the subconscious run amok, he’s even called Mad Dog Tannen in BTTF III, perhaps a reference to Set’s penile/dog-like appearance. Set is also gay (see here) and I don’t mean gay like the couple down the street who are recently married, attend church and keep their yard so nice. I mean gay like this:

Biff/Set is an unlikeable fellow and an even more unlikely hero, but remember that Isis spared his life. Maybe she has plans for him - back in the future! Which is now.

Perhaps a clue is to be found in the design of Biff’s Casino, an upthrusting monument to Biff, "the Luckiest Man In the World". Biff’s Pleasure Paradise Casino & Hotel is based on the “real life” Hotel Plaza, Las Vegas, NV, and I put “real life” in quotes because everything about Las Vegas is fake. From the guzzling of water in the desert to the stones of Caesar’s Palace to the tits of the showgirls to the money that makes the mirage possible. It’s all completely, utterly, fake. The Grand Illusion.

The thing is, Biff’s neon sign in the entry shows him burning up money. Apparently he has no respect for the dollar - in the town that the dollar built. I mean, that’s like burning up the flag, only even worse. In this respect, he is much like Batman’s Joker. They both have money to burn, and it’s all stolen.

However, all the money in the LV casinos is also stolen via legal gaming, as is all the money in Wall St., often called the "Casino". It seems to me that Isis is betting on Set to break the bank. A long shot, but who knows, he just might shoot the moon in the game of hearts.

No Turning Back for Horus

I’ve been following this odd little local story that began on Aug. 15:

Overloaded ferry full of Seahawks fans has to turn back

To recap: The Seahawks resonate Horus, the hawk-headed son of Osiris. Seahawks “slaughtered” the Broncos at the Superbowl, 43-8. 43+8=51, a sacred number of Osiris, because Osiris was murdered by Set (according to legend) on March 17, or 3/17. 3x17=51.

Today, the official report on the ferry incident appeared in the Seattle Times:

Report: Bremerton-Seattle ferry was not overloaded, no need to turn back

A flaw in a handheld clicker led ferry dock workers in Bremerton to overcount the walk-on passengers, a state inquiry found.
A state inquiry found that a ferry carrying Seahawks fans to Seattle on Aug. 15 wasn’t truly overloaded the day it returned to Bremerton and 484 passengers had to walk off the vessel.
Rather, the real number of passengers on the 4:20 p.m. run of the Cathlamet was actually shy of the maximum allowable capacity of 1,200 people — the report’s best estimate is that the vessel carried 1,073 passengers.

Discard the zero to arrive at the magic numbers once again.

The Superman/Horus/Serpent King

The ferry’s name is the Cathlamet, meaning “stone”.

However, Set still refused to relent, and the other gods were getting tired from over eighty years of fighting and challenges. Horus and Set challenged each other to a boat race, where they each raced in a boat made of stone. ~ the conflict of Horus and Set

Set is called the god of the west, sunset, and also the god of desert storms. Horus is the rising sun, east, or son of the morning star.

The "Hawks" once again defeated the Denver Broncos in battle this week.

In myth, the ferry boat is the classic transport to and from the Underworld, Hades, or the Land of the Dead. The "stone" ferry was traveling from West to East. I wonder if Osiris is paddling upstream in time, to return from the dead.

It will be interesting to watch who, or what, comes back from the dead, as Halloween approaches.

Sun vs. Sun

All the world's a stage

You'll notice that Eurasia and Africa constitute the majority of the land mass of the world. Eurasia and Africa combined also has the vast bulk of the population of the world. Notice the size of England to the far left of the map. It's tiny (it is actually smaller than the map indicates because this is a Mercator map which exaggerates the size of Britain and diminishes the real size of Africa by quite a bit). And Japan over at the right hand fringe of the vast Eurasian continent. It's tiny, too. Yet both these countries have historically caused massive problems for the peoples of Eurasia.

There is something very odd going on here.

Winter Patriot

As we all know, I’m fairly obsessed with 1941, and December 7, in particular. My dad’s football jersey no. was 41, Captain America was “born” in 1941, our friend Bob was really born on 12/7/41.

Section V of Rebuilding America's Defenses, entitled "Creating Tomorrow's Dominant Force", includes the sentence: "Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event––like a new Pearl Harbor" (51).[15]

The PNAC wished for a “New Pearl Harbor”, and got what they wanted on Sept. 11, 2001.

Even though the Japanese sunk many battleships that Sunday, the Arizona is the one memorialized. The Final Countdown features the Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor to great cinematic effect, and I began to wonder why this ship, of all ships, is so central to the 1941 mythos. Bonus time travel sync was that I was wearing my new Arizona brand jeans from J.C. Penney when I watched The Final Countdown.

Perhaps Pearl Harbor was an attack of the rising sun on the sunset. Horus vs. Set.

An Early Sprig

Varen brought home asparagus from Mexico a few days ago, on sale at the local Red Apple. Asparagus is my personal phallic symbol of spring - the green man, Osiris, Jesus, Lennon, and all the rest - so I was intrigued that it would appear so early this year at the local market.

Today, Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman synced his way into a porn feed with a spear of asparagus. He holds the record of eight straight wins.

Also, today is my dad's birthday, he died last year, FYI. I was at his 80th birthday party a year ago tonight... in Phoenix.

Varen spent $8.88 at the Red Apple.

Sand Storm

Happy Halloween, everyone! They say that the veil between the mortal and the spirit worlds is particularly thin on Samhein, or All Hollow's Eve. It is the realm of the dark recesses of our subconscious, the one day when we are all encouraged to dress up as our subconscious desires. This is THE queer holiday, of course.

This Halloween was marked by Hurricane Sandy striking at Gotham, and we're all quoting 'The Dark Knight Rises':

There's a storm coming, Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.

Curiously, the homoerotic comics house Class Comics published "Sandstorm" on October 9, syncing Sandy to Set, the Egyptian god of the desert and storms. This is important because Set murdered Osiris, thus causing the "sun" to set.

Osiris = Consciousness, Set = Subconscious.

I was fascinated that in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, the Overlook Hotel is taken over by Jack Torrence on or about Halloween (via KD12). We all know that Jack Nicholson is always playing "the devil", so quite clearly, the USA has been taken over by the subconscious, the "sand storm" being the signifier.

Oddly enough, I don't see this as a negative, but as an opportunity. If it's true that the subconscious writes our reality into being, then we might consider this a "writer's strike".

Let's give Jack a break. The devil only knows what he might cook up.
